Why 2025 Can’t Be Another Year of Wishes
No more waiting—this is the year to show up for yourself.
Compliments of the season, Royal!
How’s the holiday going?
Let’s talk about 2025. Is there something you’ve been dreaming about—something you want to achieve before the next holiday season, God willing, but you’re too scared to start?
I know that you’re not lazy or unmotivated. But have you ever thought about how fear—disguised as something else—might be holding you back? Not just the fear of failure, but maybe the fear of greatness. This might sound cliché, but let’s talk about it.
What does greatness look like for you? Have you taken a moment to picture it? If you can, what’s stopping you from taking the first step toward it?
Maybe it’s this thought: “What will people say?”
If you’ve ever dreamt of starting a YouTube channel, getting a dollar-paying job, or landing brand partnerships, you’ve probably wrestled with the fear of being seen. Because once people see you, they’ll know you. They’ll assume things about you, some of them wildly inaccurate. Worse, they might even bill you.
I get it.
When you’re still taking bike rides or recording videos on a phone with a cracked screen, the idea of putting yourself out there can feel almost laughable. You tell yourself, “I just need better equipment, more time, or a bigger platform.” But deep down, you know what you need is courage.
I’ve been there.
I’ve made those excuses.
I’ve told myself I needed more when I wasn’t making the most of what I already had. And let me tell you—there’s always someone doing incredible things with far less than you have right now.
If you’re like me and come from a conservative family, this fear might run even deeper. The kind of family where “What will people say?” echoes louder than your dreams, where secrecy feels like safety. It can be terrifying but here’s the thing: in today’s world, if you don’t toot your own horn, no one else will.
I remember when I got my first dollar-paying job. It took me months to add it to my LinkedIn profile. I didn’t want people to know I was earning foreign currency. I worried it would be seen as too much for me and too soon. I hesitated, unsure how to navigate that line between personal and professional.
But here’s the reality of our world now: you can’t grow in silence.
Whether it’s LinkedIn or any other platform, you need to show up, not just for others to see you but for you to see and discover yourself too.
For content creators, especially in the lifestyle niche, this is even trickier. How do you share your stories without feeling like you’re sharing too much? How do you balance transparency with privacy?
One way I’ve found is to give things time.
You can post a day after an event, not in the moment. Share your story, but keep the details to yourself. It’s a delicate dance, but you’ll find your rhythm.
As we head into 2025, my hope for you (and myself) is this: start now. Whatever it is—big or small—take the first step. Use what you have and start where you are.
Hawk your skills, your talents, and your dreams unapologetically.
Because the truth is, if you wait for perfection, you’ll wait forever. And I don’t want you to end 2025 with another list of unfulfilled wishes.
So, here’s to a year of daring greatly. I’ll see you in the new year.
Till the next chronicle,
Stay Royal!
Perfection is a looooonnnng journey. Let’s have this dance! Thank you for the charge!
